Can we teach ourselves to be happy? Why should we try to boost our happiness levels? There has been lots of research about whether we have a set point for happiness. In other words, are we predetermined to be happy or grumpy?
Researchers think that 50 % of our happiness is governed by our genetics. A further 10 per cent is determined by so-called ‘life events’ or what life throws at you. That means that 40 % of our happiness levels can be altered.
